From the 22nd to the 24th of June 2026, Matthew Fox and Guido Pastore (University College London) contributed to the Biogeodynamics Meeting in Athens and presented some preliminary results from their study of landscape modelling and cost-map analysis of hominin pathways influenced by topography, river networks, and climate.
EUROBIG (Pan-European Biogeodynamics Network) EUROBIG is a COST Action initiative dedicated to advancing research on the interactions between geodynamics, climate, and the biosphere. Their network unites experts from diverse fields to develop interdisciplinary frameworks for understanding Earth’s evolution and its future dynamics.
It was an excellent opportunity to meet scientists from a wide range of fields and introduce them to the PLIODIS project. Interesting discussions developed around the biogeodynamic implications for hominin dispersal, and the project was warmly welcomed by this engaged community, with exciting plans for future collaborations emerging.
